Refuge

In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. Proverbs 14:26 KJV

Fear and Safety are usually on opposite sides. In our everyday use of the term fear, it usually does not coincide with confidence or refuge. However, God’s word tells us that when we fear meaning reverence, humbled by, understanding our inability, and understanding His infinite power then, we can have confidence and, in that fear, find our safety our refuge. So often we let the cares of this world weigh us down and let the fear of what-ifs start to overtake us and we lose sight of the fact that we have a refuge we can lean upon and take safety in. When we remember that there is nothing too hard for God to handle and we realize that He is the one who is always in control we can be confident no matter what storms may come our way. We need to remind ourselves that He is to be feared as He is the one who controls the winds and waves of our storms, and He is the one who delivers from the fiery trials we may find ourselves in. Don’t fear the storm but reverence the one who controls it. When we live our lives pleasing to the one who controls the storm, we can be confident in knowing that He will lead us safely through it! When we live in opposition of God’s word and His will then we are no longer fearing or reverencing the Almighty and we don’t have that hope of a refuge and the storms may overtake us. Do not take for granted His mercy today realize and let God know that you understand He is the one in control and He is the all-powerful Mighty God and take courage and have confidence in knowing that truth! God, we praise you today and we know that no matter what storm may come, no matter what trial we may be facing or what may be coming around the corner you, are the one in control, and in that truth, we can be sure that you will keep us safely through whatever we may face. We give you the glory Lord and we will keep our eyes focused on you and not the storm!
