Dead, Dried Up, and Forgotten
Sometimes we go through times in our lives that feel like we are of no value. We feel little emotion, we can’t seem to feel God at all like maybe we once did. We feel alone even if we’re surrounded by people. Maybe we even feel forgotten at times. This is not a good place to be. Many times we as Christians get into this dried-up spiritual state. We pray and feel like it goes nowhere. We ask others to pray and we feel no change. We wallow in self-pity for a minute and wonder why we’re all alone. We don’t want to go to church, we don’t want to pray, we don’t want to see people, let alone smile and act like we’re ok. Or even more so, we can’t let others know how bad it really feels. We think they’ll lose confidence in us, or think we’re on the verge of backsliding, or tell others, or pity us, or think we’re a hypochondriac. Can I tell you, that the enemy exaggerates everything. He is a liar. Spiritually we need prayer, church, and others, and determination, and fight, more than anything else.
Dear Heavenly Father, Please keep reminding us, as you reminded me today with this old dead stump, that you are in control and that you may allow dry times, and quiet times, to open our eyes and hearts to new growth. God help us accept your will and walk in it. You are sovereign and all-knowing. Thank you for the easy, on-fire times that you work through us but thank you too for the dry, quiet times, when you are working on us.
